The overview

Alamo Ranch is a large collection of subdivisions in far northwest San Antonio, built out mostly from the mid-2000s onward between Loop 1604, SH 151, and Culebra Road. It functions as its own district: a major shopping center, restaurants, a movie theater, medical offices, and grocery all within the area, so day-to-day errands rarely require leaving.

The appeal is newer housing at a mid-market price with everything close by, plus quick access to the far west job centers, Sea World, and Lackland AFB. The trade-off is traffic — 1604 and the retail corridors are congested at peak times.

The homes

Expect one- and two-story brick-and-stone homes from roughly 1,600 to 3,800 square feet across dozens of subdivisions, most with an HOA and many with community pools and parks. Both production resale and quick move-in new construction are consistently available, so buyers can usually compare new versus nearly-new on the same street.

Schools

Alamo Ranch is served by Northside ISD, with high schools including Harlan and Brennan depending on the subdivision. Because the area built out in phases, attendance zones have shifted over time — confirm the current elementary, middle, and high school for the exact address.
